What We Do
The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, member-driven organization. It is made up of individuals, private business owners, professionals, corporations, farmers and others working together for the common goal of promoting and improving the community, business climate and economy of Sunnyside and the surrounding area.
Services:
Your Public Relations Agency:
	Your Chamber provides a vast amount of information about goods and services, lodging, dining, tourist attractions, and business opportunities in the Sunnyside area to visitors as well as potential residents and investors. We make business referrals every day. This information is disbursed by the Chamber Office in response to requests received via walk-in, telephone, mail, and e-mail.
Sunnyside's Marketing Agent:
	Your Chamber creates and publishes an annual calendar of events, local maps and brochures which highlight the community’s special events. We advertise throughout the state in regional newspapers, magazines, radio and television. The Daily Sun News, our local daily newspaper, generously provides excellent coverage of all Chamber events.
As Sunnyside's Community Ambassador:
	Your Chamber sponsors and helps to support Miss Sunnyside and Court who travel throughout the Northwest to participate in community parades. The Chamber also coordinates the ribbon cuttings for new and expanding businesses.
Information Center:
	Your Chamber distributes a newsletter every month which keeps members up to date on upcoming activities, the Chamber’s accomplishments, new members and other items of interest. The “chamber alarm” notifies all interested merchant members of the Chamber of vital information on lost or stolen checks, shoplifting, check forgery and counterfeit money. This notification is disseminated via Fax or email in order to minimize interruptions to local businesses.
Outstanding Community Members Recognized:
	Each March, your Chamber hosts the Annual Community Awards Banquet and Auction. A volunteer group from the membership selects outstanding residents for recognition from nominations in ten categories: Educator, Senior Citizen, Health Care, Business, Public Official, Agri-Business, Community Service, Youth, Community Beautification and New Business. The community pulls together for an evening of special recognition, fund raising and camaraderie.

Structure:
	The Chamber is governed by a Board of Directors who establish policies and procedures, as well as determining the general direction and activities of the Chamber. These Board members are elected from the Chamber general membership. Each Fall a committee comprised of one Board member and two other chamber members submit a slate of nominations to fill board vacancies with terms ranging from 1 to 3 years. These nominations are ratified by the Board and Chamber members at the November meeting. The Executive Board consists of the President, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Vice Presidents, Past President and Treasurer. Fourteen (14) other members make up the balance of the board, for a maximum board membership of twenty (20). The Board generally meets to conduct Chamber business on the first Friday of each month.
	The Chamber staff consists of a full-time Executive Director who is responsible for the daily operations of the Chamber. The Sunnyside Visitor Information Center, is open Monday thru Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm. In addition to welcoming visitors and newcomers to Sunnyside, the Chamber holds a monthly meeting for the general membership and other guests.
